- The SRCA Modification Design Guidelines prohibit window or wall-mounted air conditioning units and indoor A/C units vented through windows or exterior walls, so a properly installed central system, mini-split, or heat pump is the way to add or restore cooling.
- Exterior modifications generally require a Modification Application to the SRCA Modifications Committee, and each village may have its own guidelines, the more restrictive rule applies. Like-for-like equipment replacement in the existing location is typically not an exterior modification, but relocating a condenser or adding visible equipment can be; when in doubt we help you check before work starts.
- The City of McKinney separately requires a mechanical permit for HVAC equipment replacement, SRCA approval does not replace a city permit, and vice versa. Burnside is registered with the City of McKinney and pulls the permit as part of the job.
