I used Donny Burnside & Sons to replace our 10 year old downstairs AC unit. My experience with most in-home sales situations is that there’s always something else wrong that just happens to drive the cost up, but that was not my experience with Burnside. They came in took a look at everything, told me our furnaces were fine and that the upstairs AC unit was still good. They gave me quotes on three different units based on the SEER waiting that I was interested, and then left me to think it over. No pressure. And during installation to crew was professional, clean, and quick.We’ve now had the unit for 2 and a half months with no issues and no complaints.

When my new system sent me an alert message I called and they came the next day and fixed the problem. They explained everything to be so I could understand. Had our old air conditioner replaced with a heat pump about two weeks ago. The tech was on time. He had the old one out and the new one installed in no time. He was friendly and courteous. He knew his job well. Picked up all his trash and explained the system to us.
We were *** very *** lucky and had one of the coolest days for an installation that had come along for a long time. It was in the eighties (Fahrenheit) and almost nice up in the attic. The two installers seemed to enjoy themselves and did a timely, professional installation. The fellow who finished up with the Thermostat training was very diligent about doing the job “right” and kept at it until it things were to his satisfaction. I was impressed with him.
The quality of service and installation was A+. The men who performed the installation were courteous and knowledgable . They worked quickly and everything worked perfectly when they were finished. The system was priced well and we are confident that the company will stand behind the system and it’s performance.

Abe steered me to Lennox and said that both he and Mr. Burnside utilize Lennox at their homes. I was convinced that this was the system for me. This outfit continues to deliver quick, efficient, and professional service. They completed a somewhat difficult installation in under the estimated time.
I could not be more pleased with Burnside Heating & Air as well as with their Service Manager, David Weiss. Our unit began giving us trouble in June 2015. David came out and gave us a second opinion based on what we were initially told by a competitor. He gave us some options and felt no pressure with the review process. In early September, our unit finally gave out and David was the first person I called. Not only did he answer all of my questions, he was able to locate an upgraded Lennox unit from what we had discussed and he had his installation crew at my home by noon that same day. The installation was flawless and the crew was great. We are 100% satisfied with the quality of the Lennox product as well as Burnside. I cannot recommend them enough.

The number one reason I did select Burnside is your Design Specialist. He was more than willing to answer all of my questions. I am in the construction business and new of Burnside. I would like to give a special thanks to your service technician. He was a great help getting us air for 5 days, till the new unit could be installed. We had our grandchildren at the house. He also checked on the kids later.
Recently I purchased a Lennox residential air conditioning system from Burnside Heating and Air in McKinney Texas. Many choices or providers were available in my area which made shopping for the right product and eventually buying from the right provider a difficult decision.
Having no experience or expertise in the heating/air conditioning field, I felt a bit uneasy in shopping for such an important addition to my home. The age old axiom held true. Each provider assured me that their product, installation, and service were the very best.
I contacted Burnside Heating and Air fully expecting the same power sales technique I had received from previous providers. I met the owner of the company, Donnie Burnside. It did not take long to become impressed with Mr. Burnside. His down home demeanor and knowledge of the heating and air conditioning business were genuine. I liked the fact that Donnie Burnside was a hometown guy; having been raised and still residing in McKinney Texas. The family business atmosphere really appealed to me.
Donnie along with his wife Patti, asked my pointed questions concerning my needs and expectations concerning this potential investment. Other heating and air providers had not taken the time to;
Get to know me the customer.
Make a diligent effort to see what the proper fit in equipment should be for my home.
Discuss the cost of the system vs. potential savings in monthly electric bills.
Other providers seemed to always steer you to their most expensive systems and had a real salesman’s knack for telling you why a cheaper unit wasn’t really what you were looking for.
This was not the case with Burnside Heating and Air. Donnie and Patti Burnside actually took the time to look at my home, ask questions, and make recommendations based on my answers and their expertise.
I purchased the Lennox system. On the day my system was to be installed, Burnside Heating and Air arrived at my home on time, just like Donnie said they would. Their technicians operated flawlessly as a team, removing my old unit and installing the new one. I noticed the care the employees took regarding their surroundings. Each employee was very careful not to touch or scratch doorframes or soil carpets and floors.
One the installation was complete, one could not tell that a crew of men had been in our home with heavy equipment.
The crowning touch to this venture happened when Donnie Burnside himself, stopped by my home to make sure everything had proceeded to my satisfaction and to make sure I was a satisfied customer. The system sold and installed by Burnside Heating and Air continues to operate flawlessly and has cut my electric bills in half.
Should anyone ask my opinion regarding the heating and air conditioning business, I would readily tell them I know virtually nothing about the business, but Burnside Heating and Air of McKinney Texas knows everything about it! It’s who I trusted my home too.
We moved in to our new house just about a year ago and I wanted to share our experience with our heating and cooling system with anyone building a new home. There are two ways of building a new home, 1. You hire a builder and let him make all the decisions or 2. You get involved with all the decisions to ensure the right solution is being implemented in your home. Remember that a builder has a cross-purpose to yours and that is to build the house has cheaply as he can so that he has a higher profit.
Nowhere is that more evident than when choosing a heating and cooling system. The builder recommended two 4 ton air conditioners for our
2,869 sq. ft. home. I thought this was too much capacity and set out to find out what was really needed. I will tell you that builders often over-provision standard (cheap) systems since they don’t have to worry about long term operating costs.
So I began my search by contacting six air conditioning companies, one of which was Burnside, via the “contact us” button on their website. I had a lot of questions that I wanted answers to such as:
1. How is the air conditioning/heating unit size determined?
2. If you use spray foam insulation like I did, how does that affect the sizing?
3. What are the available options if I want to get the lowest long term operating cost?
4. Are there any options to add solar panels later on?
Much to my surprise, two companies never responded and two companies were not interested once they found out I was building a new home. One more called back and wanted to know exactly what I wanted so that they could send me a quote.
Then I got a call from David Weiss, the service manager at Burnside. He listened attentively to all my questions, asked clarifying questions and then informed me that I really needed to perform a “Manual J” analysis to determine the right size units. This is an engineering study that takes into consideration the square footage, the number of windows, the insulation, the house location and position and returns a very specific result for your house. I went ahead and got this done and the result was that I needed only one 4 ton unit, not two.
David had paid close attention to my requirements, especially for low operating costs and he recommended the Lennox SLP98V furnace and the XC25 Air conditioning unit, both the top of the line model. Since I was saving quite a bit by needing only one unit, I decided to invest in these units. Sure there was an additional cost but then I would then benefit from lower operating cost of a 25 SEER unit with the ability to add solar panels later on to further reduce that.
After having worked out the details of installation with my not-so-happy builder, the Burnside team came on site all dressed in Burnside t-shirts and driving at least three vans full of equipment. They had all the work done in two days and I have never met such a professional group of people. I had a question? They would stop what they were doing and answered it in great detail.
So what is the result of all this?
1. Last month my electric bill was $70.30 while my neighbor was over three hundred dollars because he did not use spray foam insulation and accepted the two standard units from his builder. I expect my yearly average to be under $100 a month.
2. We can’t hear the air conditioner or the furnace when they start up and run. Unbelievably quiet as compared to my last house where either units starting up sounded like a freight train sometimes waking me up from a sound sleep. Now I know why the thermostat tells you when it is heating or cooling.
3. Best ongoing service ever received from a company. I have called to ask questions and always get a prompt answer. Also, we don’t need to worry about the units because they call us to schedule an appointment.
4. David Weiss is a service manager who cares about his customers. He listened to what I wanted and got me the best system to meet my requirements.
My advice to you is to talk to Burnside A/C if you are willing to invest a little more upfront to save every month for years to come. We welcome anyone who would like to see this installation, talk to Burnside and make an appointment.
